Trip Introduction

Explore Kathmandu Tour is designed according to the travelers choice who are interested in travelling in and around the Kathmandu valley.

The tour includes the cultural, spiritual delight of Nepal. During the tour one will visit the UNESCO World Hertage sites and religious sites in Kathmandu. One will experience the monastic lifestyle at Neydo Tashi Choling Monastery. And also will meditate along with the nuns or monks if the time favors. During the tour, you will get to see the master piece statue of Lord Shiva recognized as one of the tallest in the Asia along with the fine wooden arts at Durbar Square.

During the course of this trip you will have a professional guide, and travel on a comfortable private tourist vehicle or a coach. Transfer across cities will be on ground transportation (private vehicle or tourist bus) according to the group size.

  • Day 1 | Arrival at Kathmandu

    Upon our arrival in the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by a representative of MD Adventure Travel and Tours and drop to the hotel for check in. You will be given welcome drinks by the hotel upon arrival and during the formal formalities of the hotel. Stay overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 2 | Full day sightseeing

    After breakfast at the hotel, we will go for the full day sightseeing: Pashupatinath temple, famous and sacred Hindu temple complex that is located on the banks of the Bagmati River. The temple was listed on World Heritage Sites list in 1979. This "extensive Hindu temple precinct" is a "sprawling collection of temples, ashrams, images and inscriptions raised over the centuries along the banks of the sacred Bagmati River" and is included as one of the seven monument groups in UNESCO's designation of Kathmandu Valley as visit here. It was built on 5th century by Lichchavi King Prachanda Dev. Bhatt and Bhandari priest performs the daily rituals. Boudhanath stupa, located about 11 km from the center and northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu, the stupa's massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal. On 1979, Boudha Stupa is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Along with Swayambhu, it is one of the most popular tourist sites in the Kathmandu area. The stupa used to be where the Narayanhiti Musuem is at presently. As per the astrologers, only one with the battis gun was supposed to be sacrificed. While prince was only the one with such quality so, the king sacrificed the hen. The stupa at present is the place where the hen's head was fallen. Swoyambhunath Stupa, is an ancient religious architecture atop a hill in the Kathmandu Valley, west of Kathmandu city. The site is the most sacred among the Buddhist pilgrimage and also the central position for the day to day rituals as well as mythological significance. The complex consists of a stupa, a variety of shrines and temples, some dating back to the Licchavi period. Numerous Hindu monarch followers are known to have paid their homage to the temple including Pratap Malla, the powerful king of Kathmandu, who is responsible for the construction of the eastern stairway in the 17th century. Drive back to the hotel. Rest of the time for your personal purpose. Stay overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 3 | Full day sightseeing

    On this day after breakfast, we will drive for the sightseeing of Patan Durbar Sqaure- is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites where the Malla kings of Lalitpur used to reside. There are many temples and idols in the area. The main temples are aligned opposite of the western face of the palace. The entrance of the temples faces east, towards the palace. There is also a bell situated in the alignment beside the main temples. The Square also holds old Newari residential houses. There are other temples and structures in and around Patan Durbar Square built by the Newa People. Then we will drive to Daksinkali temple, located 22 kilometres from Kathmandu and 1 km from Pharping village. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Kali where cockerel and uncastrated male goats are sacrificed especially seen during the Dashain festival. En-route we will also visit Pharping small Newar town lying above the Bagmati river on the southern edge of the Kathmandu valley, about 23 km from the capital. The town and its environs is the site of several important Buddhist pilgrimage sites as well a number of Buddhist monasteries and meditation retreat centres. The site is famous for the Buddhist pilgrimage places Phamting Vajrayogini temple, dedicated to Vajrayogini, is located on the side of the hill between the Yanglesho caves and the town of Pharping. Yanglesho cave, shrines dedicated to Vishnu in the form of Shesha Narayan which are located just below the sacred cave of Yangleshö and there is a flight of stairs leading up to the cave. It is said that Guru Padmasambhava in the form of Dorje Tötreng Tsal and his consort, the Princess Shakyadevi, meditated in this small cave on the Tantra of Yangdak (Skt. Vishuddha) Heruka and realized the siddhi of mahāmudrā. Asura cave. Our overnight stay will be at Neydo Tashi Chöling Monastery which is also a guest house. You will experience the daily life of the monastic.

  • Day 4 | Morning Meditation. Later sightseeing and drive to Nagarkot (30 minutes/1 hour)

    Early morning, you will have meditation class before your breakfast. Then drive for the sightseeing of Kailashnath Mahadev, the world's tallest Shiva temple. The temple lies on the border of the Bhaktapur which is 20 km from Kathmandu. The statue is 143 feet (43.5 m) in height was made using copper, zinc, concrete, and steel. After strolling around the temple, we will drive to Changunarayan temple. The temple is located on a high hilltop that is also known as Changu or Dolagiri. The shrine is dedicated to lord Visnu and held in special reverence by the Hindu people. This temple is considered to be the oldest temple in the history of Nepal. Changu Narayan Temple is named after the prince of Bhaktapur married Champak the daughter of Kashmir King. The temple is surrounded by sculptures and arts related to Lord Vishnu. There are four entrances to the temple and these gates are guarded by life-size pairs of animals such as lions, sarabhas, griffins and elephants on each side of the entrances. The ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu and the other idols are carved in the struts, which support the roof. The entrance door is gilded with carvings of Nāaga (snakes). On the main entrance gate (i.e. western entrance gate), we can find the Chakra, Sankha, Kamal, and Khadga all at the top of a stone pillar. These stone pillars have an inscription in Sanskrit. This inscription is considered to be the oldest inscription of Nepal and the stone inscription pillar was erected by Licchavi (kingdom) King Manadeva in 464 AD. On the way back to the staircase, one will find the souvenir shops. After finishing your shopping and refreshment, we will drive to Nagarkot is 32 km east of Kathmandu in Bhaktapur District at an elevation of 2,195 meters. One will enjoy the scenic view of majestic Himalayas like Annapurna range, Manaslu range, Ganesh himal range, Langtang range, Jugal range, Rolwaling range, Mahalangur range (Everest range) and Numbur range and the panoramic view of Kathmandu valley. The trails at the Nagarkot is also famous for outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, paragliding etc. Stay overnight at the hotel at Nagarkot.

  • Day 5 | Drive to Kathmandu via Bhaktapur Durbar Square sightseeing

    After breakfast, we will check out from the hotel and drive back to Kathmandu via sightseeing of Bhaktapur Durbar Square. The durbar square is located in the current town of Bhaktapur, also known as Khwopa, which lies 13 km east of Kathmandu. While the complex consists of at least four distinct squares (Durbar Square, Taumadhi Square, Dattatreya Square and Pottery Square), the whole area is informally known as the Bhaktapur Durbar Square and is a highly visited site in the Kathmandu Valley. Nge Nyapa Jhya Laaykoo (55 window palace), Statue of Bhupatindra Malla, Nyatapola Temple, Lun Dhwākhā (Golden Gate), Lion's Gate, Mini Pashupati Temple and Bhairav Nath Temple are the major attraction of the square. The Durbar square is surrounded by spectacular architecture and vividly showcases the skills of the Newari artists and craftsmen over several countries. The royal palace was originally situated at Dattaraya square and was only later moved to the Durbar Square location. As you do have leisure time at Kathmandu, one can go for shopping at Thamel market for the souvenirs also for the night life. Stay overnight at the hotel at Kathmandu.

  • Day 6 | Chandragiri Hill Station

    After breakfast, Chandragiri hill station is 14.2 km at an altitude of 2,547km/8357 ft. The spot offers you the panoramic view of Kathmandu valley along with the scenic view of majestic Himalayas from Annapurna ranges to Everest. The place is also famous for the historical story from where King Prithivi Narayan Shah had a first view of Kathmandu valley. The 10 minutes of ride of cable car takes you to the Bhaleswor Mahadev, temple of Lord Shiva. The spot not only offers the scenic view is also has a family friendly environment with children’s playground, shopping center and pony ride. Return back to the hotel. At the evening time, cultural dinner with live cultural music and dance. Stay overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 7 | Departure

    Your journey comes to an end with MD Adventure Travel and Tours. Our office representative will drop to Tribhuwan International Airport before 3 hours as per the rules of the Nepal government for boarding.

Required Documents For Visa Processing

Tribhuvan International Airport is the only international airport of Nepal, under Department of Immigration has been facilitating tourists flying to Nepal by providing Visa on Arrival. The visa for Nepal can be obtained from Nepalese Diplomatic Mission, you must enter Nepal within six months from the visa issued date. Your total stay is counted starting from the day you enter into Nepal. Or, one can get 'On Arrival'. Tourist Visa 'On Arrival' is the only entry visa to Nepal. If you are visiting Nepal for the purposes other than Tourism (sightseeing, tour, travel, mountaineering, trekking, visiting friends and families), you should still get ' Tourist Visa' to get into the country.  However, you must change the category of visa as per your purpose and length of stay in Nepal from Department of Immigration by producing required documents.
